I guess the most famous “Little David” of them was really David Porter whose early Savoy release So Long is a super blues ballad, but other artists using the same name also had discs well worth seeking out – like the Brooklyn, NY based singer here, and this musician who cut for Unity of Columbus, SC. The soul cut R & B of It’s Only My Love For You shows off his lovely flexible vocals – you gotta dig his falsetto howls towards the song’s conclusion. The pumping piano leads a fine band. Did this singer record any more 45s?
