Sir Shambling's Deep Soul Heaven

They really don’t come much more obscure than this one. Out of Rockford, IL Johnnie Elby, (real name Johnnie L Blackman?) in his rather mannered, light voice manages to push all the right buttons with this beautifully realised deep ballad. The guitarist plays some delicate fills, and the horns are mixed superbly well. Although It's Alright But It's Wrong doesn’t hit home hard at first, this disc is a grower. Play it through a couple of times and you’ll find you can’t get the tunes out of your head.
