Sir Shambling's Deep Soul Heaven

The Miami based Dorells backed Bobby Darnell on his Bronze 45, and the sides here could well have been cut at the same session. Darnell himself wrote the fine ballad I Need Someone To Love Me with the ubiquitous Rocketeers, led by Frank Williams providing the excellent arrangement, with possibly Louis Howard on the churchy organ. The emotional lead vocalist is well supported by her background singers, and the whole sound is splendid southern soul.
