Another great obscurity, this 45 is highly regarded by those fortunate enough to have it or heard it. Hey Little Girl isn’t so much a song as an inarticulate plea from Phil to his woman. But what a superbly hoarse tone he gets – just perfect for the effect he’s trying to achieve. The backing band just keep on plugging away while he gets on with it. Otis Redding influenced flip is pretty funky. This one has the look of a Texas or Louisiana disc to me – and it’s possible the artist is white.
